Based upon an initial profile discussion, Oban CBT Clinic offers a CBT programme tailored to suit your needs.An assessment is arranged in the first instance where we will jointly map out the problem areas and identify therapy goals. We will then agree an approximate number of session and identify points to review progress, to ensure that the treatment continues to be useful and effective. Programmes have a typical duration of between five & twelve sessions, but this can be negotiated and amended once treatment has begun. Sessions need to have sufficient duration to make an impact, and for that impact to be maintained for lasting change; relapse prevention is as important a part of the treatment plan as reducing your symptoms through cognitive and behavioural change. You are advised to consider the level of commitment that you are able to make to a programme of CBT, compared to Single-Session Intensive CBT or CBT-informed counselling that enables sporadic input. Session content and treatment duration are also informed by the large evidence base for CBT and although we endeavour to create a bespoke treatment plan, there are certain elements of CBT that are crucial for it to be effective.
